Description
This is a digital painting of a black swallowtail butterfly feeding at a lily. The source is a photograph taken by my wife, which can be seen here.
I drew the flower and butterfly freehand, using the photo as a reference. Then I painted over the sketch using GIMP. I primarily used the paintbrush, airbrush, smudge, and eraser tools.
The full size file is very large (3200x2400), so you will need to download it in order to see the full sized image.
Any and all critiques, tips, suggestions, or comments are welcome.

I like the use of blurring in the background. It helps give the image a serene, peaceful feel to it. I like.
