Description

This is the late-written, late-drawn launch strip for Hard Hairpin Left (Maybe). We were actually supposed to be live by now, but we keep running into issues that set us back.

My comic-strip style continues to evolve. I tried a new "toning" method using the Deevad pencil brushes in MyPaint, and the finger-smudge brush. I like how it turned out.

I must say I don't get the joke of this, nor have I with previous installments, really ...

... So let's focus on the art instead! The woman in the first panel is probably one of the best character portrayals so far in this comic; she has a very solid look, iconic yet perfectly proportional and soft. Looks like she has a personality - good job!

Critique-wise, I feel like the second panel doesn't really convey much meaning; I understand what it's intended to be, but since you already introduced the person talking in the previous panel, it would probably be more dynamic to also include her in this panel as well, maybe standing by the food stand to connect the panels more. The physical location of the third panel is also unclear in relation to the previous ones. Is she looking across to the food-stand to see that scene? Are we being an omnipresent observer that sees how things "actually are" in the kitchen? It's not clear and since the joke at the end is (maybe?) aimed at a demographic to which I don't belong, the relationship makes even less sense.

The unicorn is cute by all means though. I just don't understand what it's doing there. :) Maybe a younger and/or more non-sequiteur-inclined audience is needed?
