Rap Once For YesRap Once For Yes by Songwind
I didn't think anything would really happen when Joey suggested we have a seance. I mean, who hasn't seen that kind of thing in the movies? It's all old ladies rapping on tables and weird lights in crystal balls.
So when Joey suggested we go to the local cemetery on Halloween and try to talk to the dead, I played along. I figured it was just an opportunity for the two of us to spook the others with our special abilities.
"I think it sounds fun," I said. "We can wear our costumes and bring candy and stuff. And if anyone else comes lurking in the cemetery, we'll scare the pants off of them."
What the rest of the group didn't know is that Joey and I didn't just study at R. Bradbury Middle School. We had classes after school and on the weekends. We were honest to goodness wizard's apprentices. My mom was a healer and a seer, so I was learning plenty about how to keep people in good working order and find things that are hidden. Joey also lived with his master, but it wasn't one of his pare

cursed at his skinned knuckles. I jerked my foot off the floor (not as easy as
it used to be) as a battery core rolled through the space where my toes had
"How do you find anything in here, Pops?" he said.
"I knew where it all was, more or less."
"Well, you been movin' it around for 3 days, so there's no telling how long

I stifled a smile at the guilty look that came over him at the implied
difficulty for poor old Pops. "What are you looking for, anyway, Cal?"
"I need a superconducting cooling coil for this needle gun I'm repairing.
Barrel's overheating. That's why it keeps warping."
"Shit, kid, you're in the whole wrong pile. I got one over here." I creaked to
my feet and led Cal over to the shelf and boxes labeled 'KITCHEN'. "Microfridge
uses the exact same coil," I said.
We set to with a will, and before long
I first got interested in visual arts back in junior high school. Unfortunately, my art teacher was not too impressive, and I didn't get hooked as well as I could have. Soon I was more focused on music and computers.
So now here I am, 20 years later, trying to catch up.
I do my writing in Celtx at this time. I'm working on a novel, currently titled The Apprentice. It's an urban fantasy.
My digital art is created primarily in GIMP and MyPaint. Both are open source projects that are available for Windows and Linux.
In the world of physical media, I'm a big fan of oil paint (M. Graham is my line of choice for now) and colored pencil.
